We have had our second full rainbow in the last 3 days.
Though today’s followed one of the loudest claps of thunder I have ever heard. When it struck the ceiling light in my upstairs room glowed for just a moment. Wow!
So I couldn’t help having a look at the symbolism of thunder in the Celtic and mythological traditions.
Out popped, straight away this little beauty on Wikepedia –
“A thunderbolt or lightning bolt is a symbolic representation of lightning when accompanied by a loud thunderclap. In ancient Hellenic and Roman religious traditions, the thunderbolt representsZeus or Jupiter (etymologically “Right Father”), thence the origin and ordaining pattern of the universe, as expressed in Heraclitus‘ fragment describing “the Thunderbolt that steers the course of all things”.“
So it’s interesting given we have a meteor shower around the 5th May and the Planetary Cross where Pluto and Jupiter were at opposites, in a square formation with Mars and Uranus in April. This alignment is something of a planetary biggy – in astrology among other things, symbolizing the pulls of structure and creativity translating into something of a watershed time for people, in which they may find they need to determine how to move forward and balance competing and at time opposing demands as they find their way.
I can’t help feeling the appearance of large rainbows and dramatic thunder claps are the “trio” in this period of big statement cosmology.
Personally I take it as a good reminder to have a good look at what’s to be continued and for is for keeps and what’s to be discarded and released.
